Developing a craft centre for your kid with
hand is quiet an interesting piece of work. Parents enjoy spending time with
their kids. These craft centers make kids room and kids furniture more organized.
Here are the steps to develop craft centre:
- To develop a base for your craft center, use a basic 3 by 4 foot book case. You may also use part of a larger book case, cabinet or rolling cart alike.
- Use clear plastic bin as main storage unit. One big bin may be used to put fabric scraps, another for holding coloring supplies like markers, pencils, brushes etc. you may also divide one bin into multiple sections and label them. They may work as zip-locked bags.
- Smaller bins may be used to categorize supply sets. For example one bin for paint (water colors, powdered paints, glitters, small tubes); string (twine, embroidery floss, yarn, plastic lanyard); clay (cookie, rolling pin, modeling clay, cutters) and many more.
- Clear plastic jars that are vertically large may be use to place the collections of uniform material like pipe cleaners and pom-poms.
- For developing a paint bottle holder you may use a shower caddy; smocks can be hanged on washcloth hooks.
- To place paint brushes that are still-damp you may use a clutter tray. It will provide an open and airy storage place.
- In/out boxes are very useful for the purpose of storing craft foam sheets, card stock and paper. You may store these items in individual slots of box.
- You may then; use the spice rack bottles to fill tiny material into it like buttons, glitters, beads, googly eyes and shells etc.
- Use a lazy susan to put the often used items like tape and glue.
- Add a holder for paper towel at a suitable place so that your kid may grab it with his little hands.
- For placing the miscellaneous recyclables you may use a large basket. These recyclables include packing material, empty bottles and egg cartons. You may use them in other projects of your kids.
It was the formal way in which you can create
a full fledge craft section for your kids; but you may need to ponder some
points while decorating a craft section.
POINTS TO PONDER:
- It is a place for everything. It should provide ease to kids in finding the thing for which they are looking and then placing the thing back to the position.
- Place the similar materials together so that your kid may hunt them logically when he needs something.
- Labels should be given to all sections, bags and points so that everything becomes transparent to the kid and he does not feel difficulty during his project.
- You need to maintain these centers with the passage of time, you need to refill the bottles and baskets, recycle the items as needed, discard the items when no longer needed and re label the items when they are used for a different purpose.
These are some simple tips which will help
you and your kid in developing, using and maintaining a craft section easily.
